Meet Metcash Brand Ambassador, Madeleine Fitzpatrick

At Metcash our purpose to champion successful independents in support of thriving local communities is at the heart of everything we do. It’s something that fuels our team members’ passion, and perhaps no one embodies this more than Madeleine (Mads) Fitzpatrick.

Mads joined Metcash nearly a decade ago as an accomplished marketing professional, leading our marketing team with a vision that continues to resonate today. Thinking she would be a career marketer, her transition into retail marked a pivotal shift. Starting with a newly established focus on small format stores, Mads eventually rose to become the General Manager of Retail within our Food pillar. Her journey is a testament to her adaptability and leadership, and today, she’s a revered figure both within our team and across our retailer network.

“Every day, I’m working towards the success of independent retailers,” Mads shares. “We’re here to help them grow—whether it’s by providing powerful new shopper insights and data, improving their experience, or offering value-added services to help them run their businesses more successfully.” Her passion is rooted in a deep connection to the Australian spirit: “It’s ingrained in Australians to want to see the underdog succeed. At Metcash, we’re all deeply invested—it feels like a family. We get to witness the retailers, their families, and their stories thrive, and it’s incredibly rewarding to play a role in that.”
